New addition to GENII Software Group management team: Christian Hanke heads laboratory division

GSG GENII Software Group (GENII) has appointed Christian Hanke as head of its laboratory division. As such, he is responsible for all GENII Group companies specializing in IT solutions for laboratories. In detail, these are iVention, Dorner, MDN, Melos as well as GUS LAB - a company that recently emerged from the merger of Blomesystem and iCD.

Christian Hanke will continue to bring together the experience and capabilities of all laboratory companies under the common GENII umbrella in order to change the world of laboratory automation. The basis for this is the already internationally leading laboratory solutions of the GENII companies as well as the investments that GENII provides for the further development of these products.

Christian Hanke has over 25 years of experience in the software business, primarily in healthcare, pharmaceuticals and laboratories. For more than 20 years, he served as managing director of Cato Software Solution, a software company he co-founded, which was later integrated as an Austrian subsidiary into Becton Dickinson (BD), a leading global medical technology group. At Becton Dickinson, Hanke held various management roles in software marketing, business development and R&D with teams in Europe, the USA and China. Most recently, as "Senior Director Informatics" at BD Diagnostics, he was responsible for the strategic direction of the software portfolio for Europe. His experience in successful software development and the global implementation of IT solutions is now available to GENII.

With Christian Hanke as the new head of the laboratory division, GENII Software Group aims to increasingly merge existing informatics solutions such as LIMS (Laboratory Information and Management Systems), LIS (Laboratory Information Systems), LES (Laboratory Execution Systems) with the potential of smart devices as well as AI (Artificial Intelligence) and ML (Machine Learning) to pave the way for "Smart Labs".

"Smart labs are not only characterized by automated workflows and the most seamless possible integration of devices from different specialized vendors," says Christian Hanke. "Leading labs are also increasingly relying on centralized cloud-based collection of the vast amounts of data generated from them to achieve better insights and analysis."

Hanke also sees the IT market for laboratories facing a necessary consolidation: "Given the concentrated laboratory expertise in the group, this offers GENII the opportunity to significantly expand its position as a strong player on the European and global market. I look forward to helping drive this development forward in a responsible position."

"With Christian Hanke on board, we are consistently implementing our strategy of uniting and further developing leading enterprise software providers under the GENII umbrella," adds Matthias Siekmann, CEO of GENII. "With targeted and extensive investments in our laboratory automation solutions, we aim to make GENII one of the world's leading LIMS providers."
