VALIDAT proficiency testing laboratory software

Quality assurance through round robin tests

In addition to method validation, method transfer or test and measurement equipment monitoring, interlaboratory comparisons are also considered an element of quality assurance. Here, identical samples with known contents are measured in different laboratories (internal or external) and the measurement results are compared with each other. Statements can then be made about the measurement accuracy, the quality of the laboratories involved and the usability of the procedure/method. Accredited testing laboratories must regularly participate in interlaboratory comparisons in accordance with the DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 standard or as part of governmental approval procedures in order to prove that they also deliver the expected quality of measurement results. However, interlaboratory comparisons are also necessary for continuous quality assurance within a company where, for example, equivalent products are produced and tested in different countries or plants.

Planning interlaboratory comparisons with VALIDAT
Planning interlaboratory comparisons, distributing the information/samples to the participating laboratories, keeping track of deadlines, collecting measurement results and evaluating them graphically and statistically, creating and distributing reports, involves a considerable amount of work. The sources of error in the procurement and distribution of information are extremely diverse. The proficiency testing laboratory software VALIDAT, especially in combination with the LIMS LABS/Q®, facilitates these extensive tasks considerably. Due to the automatic processes of planning, task distribution, measurement result acquisition and acceptance, furthermore the deadline and status tracking up to the automatic, statistical and graphical evaluation and assessment as well as the report generation and distribution, the effort for the execution of an interlaboratory comparison project is reduced to a minimum with VALIDAT.

Effectiveness and safety

Processing of the samples and feedback of the measurement results
In the laboratories concerned, the samples are processed according to the specifications, the measured values are determined and the measurement results are forwarded to VALIDAT. The measurement results can be taken over via interfaces as well as entered manually. Deadline and completeness monitoring is carried out in VALIDAT.

Planning and task distribution
In VALIDAT, EQAS projects can be created based on templates or on information from a LIMS (e.g. LABS/Q®). The associated data are then transmitted to the participating laboratories, e.g. by e-mail. In connection with the LIMS LABS/Q®, the samples (specimens) are additionally created, labeled and sent to the laboratories together with a corresponding accompanying letter.

Calculation, evaluation and reporting
If all results are available, the calculation and evaluation as well as the assessment of the measurement results are carried out. After that, the report can be created and distributed.
